Non-Profit Status: a Letter to our Supporters
Dear friend,
Thank you for your long-standing support of New Waves Productions and quality cinema arts in our community! Your support and that of fellow cinema lovers has allowed us to take a step that will improve our ability to serve you in the future--we are now registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Our shift to nonprofit status will provide two distinct advantages that will enable us to continue to provide high quality, educational film programming through La Cinémathèque Film Club. First, going forward any donations will be considered charitable deductions to the extent allowed by law. Second, this new structure will enable us to do fundraising at a larger scale through government and foundation grants.
What will these funds be used for? Initially funds raised will be used to defray rental fees at SOPAC and for film rights. Membership dues cover only a percentage of these expenses. Longer term, we hope to expand to new venues where we may have more control over our screening schedule and where we may be able to expand our audience. Stay tuned as we move forward with these plans.
We know you share our belief that the visual arts are powerful educational tools for students of all ages. However, the potential of film to educate and inspire can only be realized by a dedicated group of stakeholders.
Please consider making a donation in celebration of our milestone. Click here.
Felicitations,
Gerard Amsellem
