Foundations of European Cinema (POSTPONED)

  • Columbia High School 17 West Parker Avenue Maplewood, NJ, 07040 United States (map)

*** This event has been postponed until Spring 2025 ***

In this class, we delve into the film movements that have shaped contemporary European cinema. Starting with the birth of "the seventh art" in France, we journey through the pivotal moments of film history across Europe, spanning from approximately 1900 to 1960. Along the way, we examine the impact of visionary directors and analyze samples of their work. Much like other art forms, understanding the evolution of cinema is essential to fully appreciating its artistry.
